MONSANTO stone village in Portugal

Monsanto is an authentic Portuguese village located in the municipality of Idanha-A-Nova. It is unlike any of the architecture to Portugal

It is situated on a mountainside and was built between giant boulders, with houses squeezed into huge boulders, some even barely protruding from beneath the moss-covered rocks. The Stone streets in the village are narrow and winding, and the most interesting is that they all lead to the ruins of an old castle templierski which is build in 1165 on the hill.
