Githorn in the Dutch province of Overijssel, is quiet and
picturesque village where have no streets . It is known as the "Venice of
the North".
It is divided into old and new part. In the old part no
roads and the moves is done by boats.
Giethoorn was founded in 1230 by a group of refugees. When
they arrived in the region, the first thing I noticed was a huge pile of goat
horns left after the huge flood that devastated the region a few years ago.
Initially, they named the place Geytenoorn of "geit"-goat, but the
local dialect undergone some name changes and is transformed into Giethoorn.
